Description: Golden yellow with greenish hue. On the nose it comes across very intense, with citrus fruit flavours, chestnut, honey and a spicy complexity. Robert Parker: Wine Advocate # 182. Apr 2009. Reviewer : Antonio Galloni. I was very impressed with the 2007 Chardonnay, which isn’t the heavy behemoth of prior vintages. Super-ripe tropical fruit, butterscotch and sweet spices are layered into the frame of this quintessentially Sicilian Chardonnay. The wine reveals notable length and a clean, refreshing finish that provides balance. The 2007 is an especially elegant Chardonnay from Planeta. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011.
This is one of the better sets of wines I can remember tasting from Planeta. The estate seems to have dialed back the use of oak, and at their finest, the wines offer lovely balance. Wine Spectator: Issue: May 31, 2009.- Spicy ripe apple, with hints of flowers and golden syrup, follow through to a full-to-medium body, with lots of piecrust, enlivened by bright, almost tangy acidity. The finish is long and spicy. Drink now. 20,475 cases made. –JS Stephen Tanzer: Jul/Aug 08. By Ian D'Agata. Pale straw-yellow with golden highlights. Butter and vanilla notes complement the aromas of banana, candied orange and pineapple, with a sexy jasmine accent providing lift. Very ripe chardonnay, hinting at some residual sweetness but with noteworthy intensity and underlying structure to the ripe banana and pineapple flavors. This smooth, shapely chardonnay shows terrific balance and more restraint than usual, with less tropical fruit character than past bottlings.
